After a couple of years building Kauffmann guitars, they thought it would be really cool to design a guitar from scratch. Make it a really good guitar designed with the guitar player in mind. Then they realized that there were so many good ideas floating around, so many parts that are useful that starting from scratch was silly. They then decided that at least they would need a new guitar body as a platform for all there ideas. A offset body, big, light and extremely comfortable. So, they started drawing.

Europe’s guitar culture

There is good reason for creating this new guitar. Although we all love old guitars and selling the best recreated new old guitars every day, we sometimes feel that the legends are larger than the guitars. And yet we all are gravitated to the story of the ‘old’ guitar. And because most of those came from the US, a lot of guitarists believe that the US is like the holy grounds of guitar building. And while that may have been true decades ago, we know for a fact that Europe now has some great guitar manufacturers. Just to name a few; Patrick James Eggle, Allister Atkin, Nick Huber, Panucci Guitars, Haar Guitars, Maybach, Lakewood and the list goes on. Each of these are just as good and, in some cases, maybe even a little better than the legendary US brands. And we believe it is time that we recognize that and pay more tribute of our own European guitar building culture.

Five variations out off one main design.

After a couple of years building Kauffmann guitars, they thought it would be really cool to design a guitar from scratch. Make it a really good guitar designed with the guitar player in mind. They realized that there were so many good ideas floating around, so many parts that are useful that starting from scratch was silly. From they wanted to be the guitar which by then had the uninspiring name of Kauffmann 2.0 to be one guitar with many different appearances. To suit as many players as possible. This is how the five variations came to be.

Built in Europe

They wanted to build with European materials and products as much as possible. That is why they use Paulownia for their bodies. It is light, has good tonal characteristics and is readily available in Europe. They came across Cream-T pickups based in the UK and despite Brexit it the UK is part of Europe. And they make very good pickups. they decided to go with them as the main supplier of pickups. Of course, they use their own Kauffmann single coil pickups in the Cozy as well. But most P-90 and humbuckers are Cream T pickups.

Telling the story

We hope the Cozy will reach many guitarists. And inspire them to make more beautiful music. We hope that one day there will be a real history to tell. About the guitar. And about its first players who over the next decades may become the new Jimi, Pete, Chuck, Kurt, Eddy, John or Joe. Who will that be? And which Cozy will they play?
