This beautiful 2010 Gibson Nighthawk has a special history. It once belonged to a good friend of mine, who used to be our band’s drummer. Back then, he bought this guitar because he wanted to learn to play more easily, finding his acoustic guitar a bit too challenging. But over the years, he’s transitioned fully back to acoustic, and this gorgeous Gibson has barely been played.
Recently, he traded it in for a stunning Koa Taylor, leaving this Nighthawk in search of a new home. If you’re looking for a versatile and well-crafted Gibson, this could very well be your dream guitar. After all, Nancy Wilson already led the way for you! :)
A lightweight body made from resonant chambered poplar with a highly figured Grade-AAA quilted maple top and a deep single cutaway with pointed “Florentine” horn. The guitar is translucent nitrocellulose Memphis Mojo finishes.
It comes with two of Gibson’s BurstBucker pickups, along with a single-coil “Blade” pickup in the middle position. The coils of each humbucker can be split by push/pull switches on the Volume and Tone controls, and a five-way switch selects pickup(s) in use.
The Nighthawk Standard 2010 has a glued-in neck made from solid Grade-A maple and topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard, minimally adorned with simple dot inlays. Made to the longer 25 1/2″ scale length, it has a back-angled headstock and a PLEK-cut Corian nut for superior resonance.
It carries a unique Nighthawk bridge designed to maximize resonance and sustain. It has individual saddles for entirely independent height and intonation adjustment, and is partnered with through-body stringing with ferrules set into the back of the guitar. It also has vintage-style tulip-button tuners, metal pickup rings, and traditional aluminum strap buttons, all gold plated.
